I recently read an article that said that research has shown that a one-minute video is worth 1.8 million words. The article also cited the following stats:

  •  Videos increase people’s understanding of your product or service by 74%.
  • 90% of online visitors will watch a video, while only 20% will actually read content in its entirety.
  • 75% of people visit the marketer’s website after viewing a video
  • Your website is 50 times more likely to appear on page one of a search engine results page if it includes a video.

How often do you watch Internet videos? I think I probably watch at least one every day.  Videos are engaging, informative, and are a powerful way to communicate because they appeal to both visual and aural senses.

But the video medium has one other advantage. Video doesn’t just document reality; it can also combine images in ways that communicate more complex concepts that no single image can. Add animation, and a video can even provide a demonstration that isn’t possible in reality.

Earlier this year I realized that video might be the best way to present my potential customers with an important message–why search engine marketing provides a value unmatched by other media. So, I contacted Corey Cheney in Elizabeth, Colorado. Corey’s company, Provident Media Group, specializes in commercial video, and he was interested in helping me use video to get across my message.

You can see the result above.
